Adopted at birth, Debbie grew up along the Texas-Mexico border in Laredo, Texas. Raised as the daughter of two Holocaust survivors, Debbie was influenced by a non-conventional blending of cultures \u2013 part Yiddish old country, part Mexican-American, part Tunisian Jew (after connecting with her biological family), part Texan. Debbie&#8217;s artwork is primarily influenced by this combination of cultural environments, as well as by her career as an art educator.<\/p>\n<p>In 1995, Debbie became a full-time art educator, focused on helping high school students develop their own skills as artists. Debbie holds two master&#8217;s degrees \u2013 one in Counseling \u00a0and one in Studio Art. She continues to advocate for the arts and \u00a0its ability to enable divergent thinking.<\/p>\n<p>Debbie is a lover of poodles, shoes, and dark chocolate.
